Felons Behind Bars Wanting to Vote

Felons Behind Bars Wanting to Vote
By Tommy Franks

Question: Should felons (rapists, murderers, child molesters, bank robbers, and hard core criminals) be allowed to vote in American elections? Around Washington DC, some people say “yes”. Some say “no”. Some do not care one way or the other! The liberals are saying, “Let’s give them the right to vote because if we do not allow them to vote, then we are disenfranchising them. We are depriving them of a privilege that every American should have a legal right to do. We may hurt their feelings!”

The liberals are in favor of all prisoners and felons be given the right to vote. They say that the felon’s “feelings” and self-esteem and self-worth are being degraded with depredation. They are also saying that every American should have the right to vote regardless of the type of behavior displayed or heinous crime committed by the individual.

Tommy Franks says that this is pure “poppycock” and utter nonsense. I have given over 36 years of my life to defend the American way of life and the American dream; however, when a person (man or woman) decides to murder someone in cold blood or rape another human being or molest a child, he or she should never be allowed to vote again. Why? Because I still believe in the old fashion way…Biblical principles. We reap what we sow in this life. If I sow wheat and corn, I will reap a harvest of wheat and corn. If I sow good deeds, I will reap good deeds. If I sow criminal and felon activities, I will reap the consequences of my own actions. As human beings, we will always have a payday of some type. Sin will normally take us further than we want to go…cost us more than we want to pay…and keep us longer than we want to stay! Without Christ, when sin is finished in our lives, it will bring forth death.

In America, the majority of people do not want to take responsibility for their actions. Most felons blame society, their parents, their teachers, others, or the devil for their bad decisions and atrocious crimes. Some will even say that they were framed or completely innocent even when they are caught “red-handed”…in the act on tape…and the crime is witnessed by several people.

The right and privilege to vote is earned. Only American citizens in good standing should be allowed to vote. Can you imagine if we gave the 2 million felons currently behind bars in America…the right to vote?

Now, with that being said, I know that in some situations…there could be extenuating
circumstances that could warrant an appeal for such a high privilege as voting. However, this renewed opportunity should be processed only in a court of law when all the facts are brought to light…and yes, some people behind bars are innocent, but the vast majority is there by their own doing.

Another Question: What about the rights of the 18000 murdered victims and the 5.5 million rape victims last year in America? I don’t see the “liberals” asking them if “their feelings got hurt” or if “they feel disenfranchised” or “deprived of their right to safety and security”! What are our priorities coming to in America? The Bible talks about people…in the last days…calling good “evil” and evil “good”. These are my thoughts for today! What are yours?
