The Incredible Secret from a Biblical Perspective (Part 6)

The Incredible Secret from a Biblical Perspective (Part 6)
By Tommy Franks

Do not think about what you don’t want in life. Think about what you do want. Your thoughts produce things…good, bad, or indifferent. The laws of the universe established by God work all the time. The law of gravity works all the time. If I jump off a building, the law of gravity will bring me to the ground quickly. The law of lift works constantly for aircraft. It is what makes planes fly. The law of “reaping and sowing” works 24 hours a day. If I sow good seed, I will reap a good harvest. The Law of Attraction as I perceive it…tells me that what I think about, I attract. You may express this law in a different way, but regardless of how you identify or perceive the Law of Attraction, it also works all the time.

The proof of its validity is backed, not by theory, but by science and Scripture. Quantum Physics and the universal laws explain that everything is made of energy. Therefore, your thoughts and desires are simply non-physical realities that have yet to be manifested in the physical realm. All that is required to manifest the thought (seed) into the physical is to focus and nurture the seed in your mind and spirit. Allow what it is that you desire to come to pass in your life.

If you refuse to believe that what you think about, you attract…it will still be working in your life whether you believe it or now. The problem is…you will be negating a lot of things that are valid and great possibilities for you to receive and enjoy.

Some people do a lot of “hoping”. Some do a lot of dreaming. Some do a lot of talking. Some do a lot of planning. Most wish for something better. That something better never comes. So they struggle through life, never achieving much and often attaining even less.

Relax and allow the Law of Attraction to work for you. When you do, you will find that the right people, resources, and golden opportunities will find you…sometimes through unexpected means. Some people are skeptical and have trouble believing that this law could actually work in their lives. Consequently, adjustments will need to be made to experience the benefits of this law. You may have to change your dominant thoughts.

Another thought: Remember, when you look at me, you do not actually see the “real” me. I am a spirit. I live in a body. I have a soul. When you look at me, you are seeing my body…my outward appearance. The “real” me lives inside and will live forever in the world of my own choosing (Planet Heaven). This is absolute. Therefore, the
most powerful force about me is invisible. My spirit is “my inner being” created by God Almighty who also created my body and gave me a soul. My inner spirit in conjunction with my mind does the real thinking for me. My thoughts are the product of that thinking. Reasoning is a spiritual process. Ideas are born within the spirit and conceived. Logic, argument, theology, and philosophy are spiritual in nature. This is why it is so important to have the “right kind” of spirit. David said, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me” (Psa 51:10).

“But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit (the right spirit) within him, and has followed Me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went…and his seed shall possess it” (Num 14:24).

Success is preceded by thoughts of courage, power, inspiration, harmony, and plenty. When Christ comes into our lives, old things have actually passed away and all things have become new. We begin to see opportunities for success to which we were born to experience. This is good news!

With deep affection and an unfortunate obsession with getting everyone to see things my way, I must object. I don't believe The Law of Attraction is really backed by science or scripture. Quantum physics involves the study of sub-atomic particles. Quarks have been described as popping into existence (they also pop out of existence) inside a proton. New-age mystic claims notwithstanding, nothing in science indicates that these particles or any other things are thought into being. There is simply no scientific connection between the thought of man and creation of matter or energy. That is the exclusive realm of God Almighty.

Scripture says in Isaiah 45:7
I form the light and create darkness,
I bring prosperity and create disaster;
I, the LORD, do all these things.

The Lord does things things according to His will, not our thoughts. He is not under our control.

Scripture certainly speaks of blessing but also of sufferings. 1 Peter 4:16 "... if you suffer as a Christian do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name."

This is not a scripture, but, "I never promised you a rose garden" seems appropriate.

Additionally, the Law of Attraction just doesn't correspond to reality. If thoughts produce things, an alcoholic who refuses to believe he has a problem, who thinks he is in control of his addiction ought to be really in control and without a problem. We know better.

Also, if my thoughts produce things - good or bad, then am I responsible for my child getting sick? Maybe the child thought up his illness? You seem to say that those who struggle through life wishing, hoping and dreaming of something better are at fault for their suffering. Really? Is this what we should say to someone in pain? "If you could only think better thoughts everything would work out so if everything goes wrong you caused it yourself." That's cruel.

What if I think the opposite of what you think? Do we cancel each other out?

Finally, I think (so it must be so) that this "Law" is a form of sorcery. A quick trip to Wikipedia defines magic and sorcery as the influencing of events, objects, people and physical phenomena by mystical, paranormal or supernatural means. The "wickedest man on earth" occultist and mystic Aleister Crowley, defined magick as "the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with the will." Magick in Theory and Practice, Chapter XIV

"Men mistook the order of their ideas for the order of nature, and hence imagined that the control which they have, or seem to have, over their thoughts, permitted them to exercise a corresponding control over things." James George Frazer, old social anthropologist, was speaking on man's magical endeavors in this quote but he could easily have been commenting on the Law of Attraction.

Fundamentally, it is not within our authority to order our world. We are creatures not gods. We are here to worship and glorify the one true God and not to put ourselves in His place.

In summary, I now offer for consideration the profound words of the venerable Burt Bacharach famously sung by Dionne Warwick:

"Wishing and hoping and thinking and praying
planning and dreaming each night of his charms
that won't get you into his arms . . .

'Cause wishing and hoping and thinking and praying
Planning and dreaming his kisses will start
that won't get you into his heart . . . "

Need I say more?
